Fall 2007

CS445 Intro to Robotics is the most basic robotics class offered here at USC to both graduate and undergraduate students.

You can visit the course website here.

After doing some basic labs to get accustomed to the Handyboard micro controller, Interactive C interface, and basic sensors, majority of the class is dedicated to a final project.

This year's final project was an autonomous Search & Rescue mission. Click here (PDF) to read the rules and details.

Final Project

Scenario
A dirty bomb has gone off in a warehouse. Send in one or more robot to autonomously rescue all survivors (green rag dolls) and deposit them into the safe zone. After all survivors have been rescued, seal the warehouse after all robots have exited the warehouse (if possible).

My Team (Team 3) consisting of 6 people, won the first place in the Fall 2007 competition held on 12/7/2007.

We also took the robots to the California Science Center in Exposition Park on 12/11/2007 to present our creations to the many school kids who come there on field trips.

You can find out more about our robots below, or look at pictures and videos from the entire class.
